And the Oscar goes to...oooh cute dress!
Well, the Oscars have been handed out, and thankfully, the academy awards are in the past. I didn't watch the Oscars. I just don't care about them. Yet, even as someone who didn't care, it was difficult not to see at least a couple of headlines the next day and get at least a few of the most important moments of the night. Now, a sensible person would think that the highlights would be the winners for best actor, best actress, best picture, etc, yet from casually glancing the headlines/articles, I have no idea who won. (By the way, I don't care, so don't e-mail me the results). Interestingly, what I did find out was that Jack Nicholson shaved his head, Melissa Etheridge kissed her long-time partner after winning, and Suri Cruise made an appearance during rehearsals.
Aren't the media and the general public missing the point? If you're a movie fan, shouldn't you care more about the movies than who designed Beyonce Knowles' dress? It seems like people are infatuated with the minutia of a celebrity's everyday life more than they are with their work, and often times, it seems like celebrities feed into this nonsense for the publicity. So, next time you buy a tabloid, think about this: Is knowing every detail about someone else'sdress really important?
